Through constant focus at the automotive industry FIER was and is involved in all important recent automotive projects initiated by the national and local governments in the Netherlands, ranging from industry structure studies to strategy projects. For example: FIER supported the (successful) realisation of an industry-wide automotive cluster in the Netherlands. To a growing extend, also foreign governments are asking FIER for support, as for example in Slovenia, where FIER actively supported the formation of an automotive cluster.
Although FIER is a respected consultant for public authorities, the track record is based on projects for companies. As consultant FIER worked for and with purchasing departments of major automobile manufacturers like DAF Trucks, Volvo – Mitsubishi (NedCar) and Mercedes-Benz (MCC / SMART) as well as for special vehicle manufacturers as GINAF Trucks. Based on this knowledge FIER supports R&D bureaus and SME suppliers in defining and implementing their company strategy.
FIER is also active in the retail and distribution side of the automotive industry for manufacturers, national sales companies and for larger dealer holdings in the Benelux. Moreover, from 1999 to 2003 partner of FIER, Harm Weken, has been responsible for managing the Dutch department of the International Car Distribution Program (ICDP) at the Erasmus University of Rotterdam.
In sum: FIER knows the industry in depth, has entrance to major automotive manufacturers and suppliers in Europe and has a network of relationships with the majority of the automotive industry in the Netherlands. In addition to the industry network build up over the years, FIER has created an international academic and consulting network. Through this network FIER has access to international experience with automotive supply chain development methods, and retail management. |
